Descartes believes that God exists but he does not believes that God deceives because that would make him seem weak. But he kind of goes back and forth between his thoughts about him being perfect and making mistakes. He thinks he is incapable of making mistakes because that is how God made him. He believes God is perfect and God makes perfect human beings. I believe that no one is perfect and Descartes can not undrstand God because no one really understands the way he does things. It is true that God works in mysterious ways but you should not try to understand them because God knows what he is doing and you should just trust him.
I agree with you on this. God knows what he is doing and I believe that everything that happens in life is for a reason. When you make mistakes or errors I think it is so that you learn from them and become a better person, and not make that mistake again. The fact that he is trying to figure out why God made him with error is I think pointless. He will never find the answer to this.
ReplyDeleteI think that this ties in with the blog I had written about God and errors. Descartes says that error is a defect and that it has nothing to do with God and that we err because of our lack of knowledge of the truth. I agree with you Eugenia when you say that no one should try to understand God because he knows what he is doing.
